Life Beyond Architecture:

Looking for Mr. Wright? Here's a collection of interesting quotations by the Master himself, America's most well-known architect. Also, links to FLW houses on the market.

Le Corbusier Links. A guide to the works of one of the twentieth century's greatest modernists.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize, awarded each year to one of the world's most outstanding architects.

Arcosanti, a prototype megastructure city for 7,000 in the Arizona desert, designed by Paolo Soleri. Paolo was "green" decades before green was cool! Gary participated in a 6-week summer workshop there in 1975.  While you're there, buy a bell to help the cause.

Death by Architecture. An interesting site,  listing major architectural competitions throughout the world.

Lotus, former Formula One World Champion Car Constructors. Founded  by the late Colin Chapman, Lotus invented the concept of ''ground effects" and lives by the mantra, "add lightness."  In the 1970's Lotus commissioned Burt Rutan to build two cunard airplane designs, but they  never saw production. The new Tesla electric supercar is based on the Lotus Elise and is made at the Lotus factory in Hethel, England.

Scaled Composites, Burt Rutan's innovative aeronautical design firm known for around the world flight of Voyageur and such designs as the Long-EZ, Proteus, and now Space Ship 1 (SS1).  Space Ship 1 is the first private manned mission into space. Burt owns a vintage Lotus or two.  Good design is recognized by good designers!.

If there's a more elegant sport than rowing, we don't know what it is. (Although fencing runs a close second.) Rowing is the only Olympic sport where you can sit on your butt and go backwards!

Gualdo Tadino, Umbria. Home of Cynthia's Italian roots and site of the Battle of Taginae where in 552, General Narses, a one-eyed Byzantine eunuch defeated Totila, and the last of the Ostrogoths!  Now famous for its ceramic artisans such as the firm of Ceramica Panfili. (That's Cynthia's cousin Fabio, the brakeman on the chariot at the annual festival.)

An Eagle Scout himself, Gary is a former Scoutmaster of Troop 21, the oldest Boy Scout Troop in South Florida. Located in Coconut Grove, Troop 21 has been active for going on 90 years!. We believe strongly that Boy Scouting builds leaders for tomorrow.

VERY COOL!  Build your own Osprey Nesting Platform! Hurricane-proven (withstood both Hurricane Wilma and Katrina) free plans with assembly photos to enable you to build a structurally sound platform to attract your very own osprey.  (Just add water...)
