"Where the pine meets the road." ... racing for pink slips is discouraged. Scouts of Pack 17 fashion their own racers from a block of wood and gravity does the rest. |
We're Cub
Scout Pack 17 located in Coconut Grove, Florida. Our sponsoring
institution is Plymouth Congregational Church, located at 3400 Devon Road, just off of
Main Highway.
We meet at Plymouth every Thursday night at 7pm, and we welcome you to attend. We include all ages from Tiger Cubs (1st graders) to Webelos (5th graders), and are divided into five dens of about eight scouts each. We participate in Council events such as the Lincoln-Marti Camporee and the annual Ten Commandment Hike, as well as enjoying Pack events such as family campouts, our annual Blue & Gold Banquet, and Pinewood Derby Races. Here's a sample of some of our activities. Come on and join us! |

Are we havin' fun yet?
What do you think? Amid the neverending chorus of "Ninety Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall," Pack 17 squeezes on the bus to Gardner for 16 miles of Peace River canoeing and camping. An "unofficial" event for the Webelos and their parents just to get a taste of what the older boys (Boy Scouts) get to do, all the boys said that this was the most fun they'd ever had! |

Ghost Stories at the Biltmore Hotel ! Not so long ago... we held our October Pack meeting at the haunted Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables! Ghost stories next to the lobby fireplace given a professional story teller was the order of the evening. As for that story about the 13th floor being haunted by the ghost of a gangster who was murdered there... Pack 17 was shaken, not stirred! No better way to get tuned up for Trick-or-Treat! We have Pack meetings once a month (Dens meet every week), and we always try to have something special that everyone can learn from together. |

High Fliers ... Here we are on a field trip to the Everglades Gliderport during our family campout at the Homestead/Miami KOA Campground. Its a lot of fun sharing outdoor experiences with your friends. We have family campouts several times each year. Experiences like these teach our Scouts independence and build self-confidence. |
